Parents, Teachers Criticize Decision To Keep Schools Open In Near White-Out Conditions

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- The backlash continued on Saturday morning, as parents and teachers criticized the mayor's decision not to close schools during this week's snow storm.

Parents scrambled to get their kids to class on time during near white-out conditions on Thursday. Despite the criticism some parents were glad that schools stayed open.

Governor Cuomo said that any decision that was made regarding schools would be second guessed by some.

"These decisions, you get second guessed either way," he said, "Welcome to the job. That's why we get the big bucks."

All trash and recycling operations have been suspended through Monday.
