Parents Charged In Drowning Death Of Infant Son In Bathtub

DEPTFORD, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — The parents of an infant who authorities say drowned when his mother fell asleep in a bathtub for several hours have been charged with child endangerment.

The charges against Maurice Brown, 27, and Shannon Schonewolf, 33, stem from the June 8 death of their six-week-old son at their Deptford apartment, according to Gloucester County prosecutors.

Prosecutors say Schonewolf fell asleep in the bathtub with her son on top of her. When she awoke, the infant was unconscious.

The baby was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Bail was set at $100,000 each for Brown and Schonewolf.
