Pair Of NYPD Officers Injured In Crash With Cab While Responding To Reported Assault

SUNSET PARK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork)  -- Two of New York's finest were injured in a car crash with a livery cab Saturday night.

The accident happened at the intersection of 4th Avenue and 40th Street in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, police told 1010 WINS.

The two NYPD officers were in a police cruiser with the lights and sirens on when they collided with the cab.

The livery cab driver smashed into a mailbox and knocked over a crosswalk sign.

Police said the officers were en route to a reported assault involving a knife when the crash happened.

Both were being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

The cab driver and a passenger also suffered minor injuries.

All four were taken to Lutheran Medical Center.
