Owner: Drunken Teens Caused $25,000 Worth Of Damage To L.I. Limo Bus

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The owner of a limo bus plans to sue the parents of a group of teenagers that he said caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to the vehicle.

The party bus that police said was full of drunken teens Monday night is completely trashed, company owner Matt Delaney said.

"This is the worst I've ever seen, and I've had bachelor parties in here, I've had fights in these buses," Delaney told 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera."They destroyed everything in here."

He said it will cost $25,000 to repair the bus and plans to sue the parents of the drunken teenagers to pay for the damage.

The bus was headed to Montauk when state troopers found dozens of drunken teenagers and large amounts of booze onboard around 9:30 p.m. Monday at a rest area in Southampton, police said.

There were 42 people, all ages 16 and 17, in various stages of intoxication aboard the limo bus, police said. Troopers also found more than 100 cans of beer and several bottles, both unopened and empty, of whisky and rum, police said.

Police charged the driver, Luis Guevara-Henriquz, 26, of Hempstead, with endangering the welfare of children.

Delaney wants the charge dropped, saying the driver didn't know about the alcohol and didn't provide it.

The teens apparently used backpacks to sneak the alcohol onto the bus while the driver was finalizing paperwork with a parent at the pick-up location, a residence in Garden City South, Delaney said.

GPS records he provided to police show no stops after the pick-up until the driver pulled over in Southampton, Delaney said.

"If he supplied alcohol he would have to stop with the kids somewhere, well he didn't," Delaney said.

The driver pulled over at the rest stop after hearing a bang, and once he saw the alcohol and trashed bus, he called a supervisor as per company policy, Delaney said. At that point, a state trooper patrol car pulled up and the driver was arrested.

Delaney believes the teens should be charged with vandalism.
