One Of Scholastic's Top Kids Ariel Creamer Stops By The Couch

NEW YORK (WLNY) -- Hurricane Sandy left a massive path of destruction in the Tri-State area, in some cases destroying entire neighborhoods.

The storm prompted some to rise above the loss and help others.

One of those people was 14-year-old Ariel Creamer.

Creamer, whose Rockaway home was flooded with 3-feet of water and sewage, started the organization Survivors Silver Lining which matches donors with survivors to replace some of the things they lost in the storm.

Creamer was named one of Scholastic's "8 Coolest Kids of 2013″ and was invited to the White House last year to speak about hurricane preparedness.

To learn more about Ariel and her organization, like the Survivors Silver Lining Facebook page or follow the organization on Twitter.
