WALDWICK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A 45-year-old mother in New Jersey died of cardiac arrest when she tried to break up a domestic dispute between her son and his girlfriend, authorities said.

The pair face charges stemming from the death of Ana Rojas-Jovel.

Juan Martinez Rojas, 28, and Claudia Hernandez Soriano, 25, started fighting in front of a 7-year-old child after they returned to their Waldwick home from a party early Monday, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said.

During the assault, Rojas-Jovel suffered a cardiac event and died, Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said.

Martinez Rojas is charged with child endangerment and simple assault. Bail was set at $75,000.

They're scheduled to make an initial court appearance on Thursday.
