FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A student released a blast of pepper spray outside the cafeteria at Freehold Township High School, officials said.

Students and teachers were required to shelter in place after the 8:20 a.m. incident Wednesday.

No students or teachers were directly struck by the spray, the school said in a statement. However, those who were in the area received medical treatment.
