Officials: Paterson Police Officer Involved In Overnight Shooting

PATERSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A police officer in Paterson, New Jersey was taken to the hospital following a shooting in the city's 1st Ward early Saturday.

The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office told 1010 WINS the officer was involved in a shooting overnight and treated at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center for trauma.

The incident happened near the corner of Union and Jasper avenues at about 1:30 a.m., Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale told NJ.com.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
