Officials: 22 Charged In Brooklyn Drug Dealing Investigation

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police rounded up and charged 22 alleged drug dealers in a year-long investigation at the Eleanor Roosevelt Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant, authorities said Thursday.

The charges were announced by District Attorney Kenneth Thompson and NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton.

The suspects are accused of selling crack, heroin and marijuana to undercover officers, police said.

All of the 213 buys were made within 1,000 feet of schools. One dealer set up shop in a deli, officials said.

Thompson said complaints from "honest and hardworking" residents at the Roosevelt Houses prompted the investigation in April 2013.

Bratton said they'll no longer have to tolerate their neighbors' criminal activities.
