Officer Injured In High-Rise Fire Set To Be Released From The Hospital

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Sunday was set to be the last night in the hospital for a police officer who nearly died in a high-rise fire on Coney Island.

Rosa Rodriguez, 36, was set to be released on Monday.

Six weeks ago Rodriguez was critically injured when she responded to a 13th floor hallway fire on Surf Avenue.

Rodriguez had raced to the scene with her partner, Dennis Guerra. Guerra died of his injuries.

A 16-year-old boy has admitted to setting fire to a mattress out of boredom.
