Woman Claims Off-Duty Cop Attacked Her, Yelled Anti-Gay Slurs In Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Brooklyn woman claims a police officer beat and punched her, and that she is now the one being charged with a crime.
Stephanie Dorceant, 29, said she was waking by the 63rd Precinct, at 1844 Brooklyn Ave. in Flatlands, Brooklyn, around 2 a.m. Saturday.
She claimed an officer – who was just leaving and wearing plain clothes -- bumped into her, yelled homophobic slurs, and then punched her repeatedly.
But the officer told a different story. He arrested Dorceant, and she has been charged with assaulting him.
"I've never done anything like that, so for someone to make me out to be a criminal -- to be honest, this whole thing is a nightmare," Dorceant said. "I just hope that people see that."
Both the NYPD and the Brooklyn District Attorney's office said they are investigating.
