Off-Duty Firefighters Pull Motorist From Wrecked Car In Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The wet weather proved dangerous for one motorist in Queens Saturday.

As 1010 WINS' Gary Baumgarten reported, the driver was heading northbound on Beach Channel Drive, leaving the Rockaways around 6:21 p.m. when the car hit a small pond-sized puddle of water and lost control.

The car then left the road and flipped over.

Several off-duty New York City firefighters were first to arrive on the scene of the accident, Baumgarten reported.

They were able to pull the driver, who had been trapped, to safety.

There is no word on the driver's condition.
