Ocean Township Wedding Crashers To Face Lesser Charges

OCEAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) - Authorities say three juveniles who allegedly crashed a wedding reception in central New Jersey last weekend won't have to face strong-armed robbery charges.

Instead, they will be charged as juveniles with simple assault and trespassing.

The young men mingled with guests, consumed food and beverages and took pictures inside a photo booth set up for the event, which was held Saturday night at the English Manor Banquet Facility in Ocean Township, authorities said.

When it was learned that the three young men had not been invited to the reception, a woman who manages the facility tried to detain them until police arrived. But one of the men threw her to the ground, and all three then ran out of the building, police said.

Authorities said the strong-armed robbery charges were filed because the young men consumed beverages and food and then used physical force to flee.
