Interview: NYRR Teaches High School Seniors To 'Run For The Future'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Training to run a race isn't easy.

On Sunday, CBS2 welcomed members of the New York Road Runners' "Run for the Future" program to the studio to talk about their experience, and what it was like to compete in the Percy Sutton Harlem 5K run this weekend.

According to NYRR president Michael Capiraso, "Run for the Future" gives young women entering their senior year of high school the opportunity to train for seven weeks to run their first 5K race.

The program is open to all upcoming seniors in high schools across the five boroughs, and every student who participates will receive a $1,500 scholarship towards college.
