NYPD Sergeant Hurt In Crash While Responding To Shooting In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – An NYPD sergeant was hurt in a car crash Saturday night while responding to a shooting in the Bronx.

Police said the female sergeant was responding to reports of a person being shot in the foot around 9 p.m. when she got into a collision with another vehicle near Washington Avenue in Belmont.

Video from the scene showed what appeared to be an unmarked patrol car pinned against the wall of a parking garage inside a residential building, CBS2's Jessica Borg reported.

The sergeant was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital with a minor injury to her leg.

The shooting victim was also transported to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
