Police Seek Suspect In Series Of ATM Robberies Targeting Women In Manhattan

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Authorities are searching for a suspect who is targeting women as they take cash out of ATMs in Manhattan.

The first robbery happened on Nov. 15 and the others took place on Nov. 20, Nov. 21, Nov. 22 and Nov. 26.

Authorities said the suspect would approach the women, sometimes threatening them with a knife and other times putting them in a chokehold, then steal cash from them. One woman was punched in the face.

In each incident, the suspect got away with anywhere from $60 to $500, police said.

The ATMs are located on Eighth Avenue between 50th and 51st streets; on Broadway between 62nd and 63rd streets; on Broadway between 102nd and 103rd streets, and on 72nd Street near Amsterdam Avenue.
