NYPD: Man Stabbed To Death In Building's Boiler Room In Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD said a man was stabbed to death in a building's boiler room in Queens Monday afternoon.

Police said they responded to a 911 call around 2:40 p.m. for a man stabbed at 123-27 Merrick Blvd.

Officers found the 50-year-old man unconscious with apparent stab wounds to the chest. Police said the man's girlfriend found him in the boiler room.

Residents told CBS2 the man was the building's superintendent.

"I saw the tape and then when I came down they told me the guy was stabbed. I said, 'What?' I was shocked because it wasn't long since I spoke to the guy," one resident said.

The man was transported to Jamaica Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim's identity is being withheld pending family notification.

There are no arrests at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
