NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- An NYPD police sergeant and 10-year department veteran is facing several charges, including rape.

Vladimir Krull, 37, was off-duty when he was arrested Tuesday in the Hunters Point section of Queens.

The arrest follows an Internal Affairs Bureau investigation, CBS2 reported.

"It is a very unfortunate circumstance and we'll be working very closely with the district attorney's office on that case moving forward," Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said.

Krull is charged with two counts of rape, two counts of criminal sex act, two counts of sexual misconduct, forcible touching, endangering the welfare of a child and sex abuse, police said.

As WCBS 880's Marla Diamond reported, police say Krull had a relationship with the teen's mother, who reported the alleged rape.

He had been assigned to the Midtown North Precinct and was suspended without pay.

The investigation is continuing.
