NYPD: Officer Shot, Wounded Armed Man Who Attacked Woman In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- NYPD officers shot and wounded a man armed with a knife who attacked a woman in the Bronx early Sunday morning, police said.

According to authorities, officers who responded to a 911 call at 2471 Sedgwick Ave. just before 4 a.m. observed a 34-year-old man enter the lobby from the stairs and attack the 32-year-old woman.

Police said the officers ordered the man to drop the knife and fired on him one time each after he refused.

The suspect was shot in the chest and taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The woman was also taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Authorities said a knife was recovered at the scene. Charges against the suspect are pending.
