Police said the man grabbed the 25-year-old victim from behind, pushed her against a wall and tried to rape her, CBS 2's Jessica Schneider reported.

The victim fought back and the suspect fled.

One woman, who didn't want to be identified, told Schneider she heard the victim screaming for help.

"Me and my girlfriend, we heard her and we shouted through the window 'Are you OK? Do you need us to call the cops?'" the woman said.

The incident has left many residents in the neighborhood on edge.

"That's really scary," one woman told 1010 WINS' John Montone. "This seems to be a really safe neighborhood so that's really weird."

"It's typically very safe, it's one of the safest places in Brooklyn," another woman said. "It's a shame to hear and I guess I'll be on my guard a little bit more."

Police described the suspect as a light skinned male, wearing a T-shirt, blue jeans and running sneakers.
