Lampard Scores 3rd Goal In 4 Games As New York Beats New England Revolution 1-0

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- Frank Lampard scored his third goal in four games to help New York City FC beat the New England Revolution 1-0 on Wednesday night.

New York City (8-5-6) has won four games in a row and sits atop the Eastern Conference. New England (5-6-7) lost its third straight.

Thomas McNamara ran down a chipped ball near the goal line and his cross redirected off Lampard's leg in the 58th minute.

NYCFC had two scoring chances in the first half. Bobby Shuttleworth went to his left to get a hand on Ronald Matarrita's shot in the 17th minute and David Villa's shot from distance hit the crossbar in the 22nd. Villa pulled a breakaway shot wide in the 86th.

New England's best chance for a goal came in the 30th minute when Teal Bunbury's open header bounced over the crossbar.

Shuttleworth received a red card in the 94th for tripping Khiry Shelton in an obvious goal-scoring opportunity.
