NYC Teacher Arrested, Reportedly For Giving Alcohol To Student

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A New York City public school teacher was arrested and charged this week, reportedly for giving alcohol to a teenage female student.

Cesar Alvarez, 26, was arrested around 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Midtown South Precinct, according to the NYPD.

He was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Police did not provide further information. But a New York Daily News report indicated that he allegedly gave a 16-year-old female student alcohol on two occasions.

Alvarez teaches at the Bronx Academy High School, at 1444 Story Ave. in the Soundview section of the Bronx, the newspaper reported. He was off duty at the time of his arrest.
