"It is cold, but it is refreshing," Silver said. "Our pools offer a great way to beat the heat."

The rest of the city's 55 outdoor pools open Saturday.

Parents say the city's pools are the place to be in the summer.

"Every summer we just come here and just relax," one mother said.

"We make it a family event to come to the pool, it's very exciting," another mother said.

Pools will be open everyday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Admission is free.

The pools close on Labor Day.
