NYC Firefighters Mark 9/11 Anniversary At Firemen's Monument
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A service was held Thursday at the Firemen's Monument on the Upper West Side honoring New York City firefighters who died in the Sept. 11 terror attacks 13 years ago.
The names of 343 firefighters were read and, in the FDNY tradition, a bell rung after each.
Retired firefighter Ray Pfeiffer said the pain of loss is still there.

"It could be 13 years or a 130 years, we're still going to remember," he told WCBS 880's Marla Diamond. "The New York City Fire Department is always going to remember."
There was reflection and resolve in the face of a new terror threat, expressed by retired Bronx firefighter Mark Rowan.
"This and Pearl Harbor, the worst thing that could ever happen to this country," he said. "Thank God for our military doing what they're doing and bringing the fight to them. Just hope we never see another day like this ever."
