As Thanksgiving nears, it's been a hit-or-miss 2015 for the New York City-area sports locals, but they each have reason to be thankful.

METS

What they're thankful for: 2015

They enjoyed a renaissance season that put them back on the map and gave their fans one heck a ride. As it turned out, the World Series looked really good on Citi Field.

YANKEES

What they're thankful for: Luis Severino

He's a young ace that the franchise can build around, assuming he picks up where he left off in 2015.

GIANTS

What they're thankful for: Modern medicine

Legend has it several medical breakthroughs and advancements have been made treating the Giants' plethora of injuries over the past few years.

JETS

What they're thankful for: The season will be over in about a month

What started off as a misleadingly promising campaign is turning into an utter disaster. They could turn it around, but we kind of know better, right?

RANGERS

What they're thankful for: Henrik Lundqvist

The Blueshirts are better than people have given them credit for, but he's been lights out. He's the favorite to win the Vezina Trophy (top goalie) at this point.

ISLANDERS

What they're thankful for: Jaroslav Halak and Thomas Greiss

The Isles have been inconsistent in several areas, but their goaltending has been steady. It's the biggest reason why they've been able to keep up with the pack.

DEVILS

What they're thankful for: John Hynes

New Jersey's rookie head coach has instilled a free-wheeling approach to the offense that hasn't been utilized by the Devils since they were the Colorado Rockies. They've been fun to watch, and have even been competitive.

NETS

What they're thankful for: A spot in the NBA

At least they haven't been demoted to the D-League. Small victories.

KNICKS

What they're thankful for: Kristaps Porzingis.

He may very well be the best rookie to come through the organization since Patrick Ewing.

Oh, and the Nets.
