Suspicious Fire Destroys Home Under Construction, Damages 2 Others In North Plainfield

NORTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) – An early morning fire destroyed a home under construction and damaged two others Wednesday in North Plainfield.

Investigators say the cause appears to be suspicious and they are questioning a person of interest.

Firefighters responded around 2:45 a.m. to a two-story house on Maple Avenue.

When they arrived on the scene, they found the flames had spread to two adjacent homes.

No residents were hurt, but one firefighter suffered minor injuries.

Two families were displaced.
