Teacher's Aide Struck While Walking To School In North Bellmore

NORTH BELLMORE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - A teacher's aide was struck by an SUV while walking to school Friday morning in North Bellmore.

Donna Polimeni, 58, was in a crosswalk on Newbridge Road when she was struck by a 2014 Ford Edge exiting the Southern State Parkway just before 9 a.m., according to state police.

Polimeni, who works at the Jerusalem Avenue School, suffered a head injury and was taken to Nassau University Medical Center.

She is in critical but stable condition, according to the hospital.

The driver of the SUV, identified as Margaret Greco, 49, of Massapequa Park, has not been charged.
