Driver, Pedestrian Killed In Chain-Reaction Crash On Long Island

NORTH BELLMORE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A 20-year-old driver and a 45-year-old pedestrian were killed in a chain-reaction crash on Long Island Friday night, Nassau County Police said.

A 2014 Nissan Rogue, driven by 20-year-old Stephen Rossman, of Seaford, was traveling west on Jerusalem Avenue in North Bellmore around 9:25 p.m. when it rear-ended a 2007 Nissan Altima, driven by a 26-year-old woman, police said.

The Altima spun out of control, striking and killing a 45-year-old pedestrian from Wantagh as she was crossing Jerusalem Avenue, police said.

Police said the Altima also hit a 2013 Subaru, driven by a 54-year-old man. 

The Rogue hit a dumpster, which rolled into a 2005 Nissan, driven by a 27-year-old woman, before hitting a parked Ford box truck and coming to a rest, police said.

Police said Rossman died at the scene.

The 26-year-old driver of the Altima was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have not released the identity of the pedestrian.
