Man Charged With Killing Wife In North Arlington, N.J.

NORTH ARLINGTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A North Arlington, New Jersey man was charged Friday with the murder of his wife in their apartment.

Eric Pleger, 45, was charged with murder and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose following an investigation, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's office.

Around 12:15 p.m. Friday, police were called to the Riverview Gardens Apartment Complex to check on the welfare of a woman living in an apartment there. They found Luisa Pleger, 47 – the suspect's wife – dead at the scene, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors did not specify how Pleger was killed, reporting that the final cause of death was to be determined by the Bergen County Medical Examiner's office.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit was sent to the scene, and Pleger was arrested and charged, prosecutors said.

His bail was set at $2 million by Bergen County Judge Susan J. Steele, prosecutors said.
