NJ's Six Flags Great Adventure Welcomes First Sea Lion Pup

JACKSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- New Jersey's Six Flags Great Adventure is celebrating the birth of the park's first first sea lion pup.

Kona was 18 pounds when he was born on June 25 and now weighs 33 pounds.

Animal training supervisor Jessica Peranteau says the pup is becoming more proficient at swimming and has started teething.

"Similar to human babies, Kona puts anything in his mouth, most often his flippers," Peranteau said in a news release.

Kona, and his mother Anoki, can be seen daily in the underwater viewing pool at the Jackson park's Seafari Theater.

There are now five sea lions at the park.
