2 Suspects Indicted In Shooting Death Of NJIT Student
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Two men have been indicted in connection to the shooting death of a New Jersey Institute of Technology student during an armed robbery at a frat house earlier this year.
Joseph Micalizzi, 23, of Tom's River, was shot and killed during an armed robbery at an off-campus Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity house on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Newark on May 2.
The 23-year-old NJIT student was shot twice when he resisted an armed robbery at the frat house, authorities said. Micalizzi was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
Nafee Cotman, 19, of Irvington, and Taquan Harris, 22, of Newark were arrested in connection to the incident. They are facing murder and weapons charges, including murder, felony murder, robbery, burglary, unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose, according to authorities.
Cotman and Harris are expected to be arraigned in court on Oct. 17.
