NJ Transportation Commissioner Announces Plan To Repave Palisades Parkway
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- It has been nearly 20 years since the New Jersey side of the Palisades Parkway has been re-done now, drivers are going to see action.
The road has fallen victim to budget cuts and jurisdictional squabbling, but as a result of a CBS 2 report on the problem New Jersey's transportation commissioner drove the road himself and decided to act.
"I made the command decision that we're going to repave the Palisade Interstate Parkway, both sides, north and south, all eleven-and-a-half miles, lanes and shoulders," James Simpson said.
Simpson promised to begin the official process on Monday.
More than 20-million cars travel the Palisades Parkway every year.
