NJ TRANSIT: Janitor Catches Suspected Burglar At Secaucus Station

SECAUCUS, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A janitor at the NJ TRANSIT station in Secaucus put the motto "when you see something, say something" into action this week.

As WCBS 880's Levon Putney reported, NJ TRANSIT spokeswoman Nancy Snyder said just before 4 a.m. Thursday, the janitor tracked down a transit police officer to give a report.

A man was spotted breaking into the bar at the Secaucus Junction area, Snyder said. Snyder said the Ocean County man did not get far with the couple of bottles of alcohol and cash from the register he allegedly tried to make off with.

The suspect – Eric Visaggio, 32, of Waretown was quickly arrested and charged with burglary, theft, and possession of a controlled substance, Snyder said.

NJ TRANSIT said Vissagio also had a small amount of marijuana on him.
