Newark Teen Faces Carjacking Charges After Court Orders Release

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Newark police say a 13-year-old suspected of carjackings was arrested again after a court ordered his release.

The teen was accused of receiving stolen property in Maplewood on Sunday after police spotted a stolen car.

He had been arrested on Friday and police were investigating his involvement in carjackings in Orange, Maplewood and Newark, authorities said.

The teenager had three key fobs which matched the makes of three vehicles taken during carjackings or attempted carjacking hours before his capture, police said.

The court had ordered his release to a relative.

His name has not been released because of his age. A second suspect who police said was with the teen Sunday, 22-year-old Justyn Knight, was also arrested.
