NJ Lawmaker Wants FDA To Look Into Chemical Found In Nail Polish

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- A troubling report focuses on a chemical found in nail polish and its impact on women.

Duke University and the Environmental Working Group found that women have higher levels of tri-phenylphosphate in their bodies 10 to 14 hours after painting their nails.

TPHP is suspected to interfere with the hormone system, and has been associated with the increased incidence of health conditions including breast cancer.

New Jersey Congressman Frank Pallone has called for legislation to allow the FDA to review its use.
