New Jersey Father Pleads Not Guilty To Murder In Beating Death Of Infant

FORT LEE, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP)-- A New Jersey father accused in the beating death of his 5-month-old son has pleaded not guilty to murder charges.

Yoseop Choi, 39, entered his pleas Monday during a brief court hearing in Hackensack. The Fort Lee man remains jailed on $1 million bail.

Choi initially was charged with aggravated manslaughter and other counts after the child died last summer. But a Bergen County jury indicted him last month on murder, aggravated assault and hindering charges, as well as two child endangerment counts.

Authorities claim Choi shook and punched his son over a two-month period. They say the boy had a severe head injury and a healing rib fracture when his father took him to a hospital after the child went into cardiac arrest.

The child died several days later.
