Food Pantries Across New Jersey In Need Of Donations

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Food pantries across New Jersey are looking for some much needed donations.

With the holidays now over, food pantries have hit their second worst time of year behind summer, according to Jennifer Johnson of the Center for Food Action in Englewood.

"There's a lot of folks living in our neighborhoods that are hungry," she told WCBS 880's Kelly Waldron. "People aren't thinking about hunger in that the weather is usually not so great, it's a little more difficult to get to the pantry."

But Johnson said you don't have to physically go to a food pantry. You can donate online and over the phone. She also recommends making donating a part of the family structure.

"Every Friday, every Saturday, every Thursday, whatever day works for the family, they bring donations," she said. "Or once a month even."
