Nicki Minaj Claims Alma Mater Won't Let Her Visit To Speak To Students
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Nicki Minaj's request to return and speak to students at her alma mater, LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, was turned down, according to a post on the rapper's Twitter account.
I wanted to go back to my HS and speak to the students but the new principal declined. No need for me to inspire them, I guess. Smh

That school changed my life and I wanted to pay it forward to the students there now. I was really looking forward to it.

One LaGuardia senior told 1010 WINS' Al Jones that Minaj's request had been turned down because she wanted to bring a camera crew along with her.
"She could teach us what it's like in the music business, how to get an in, how to stay in the business," the student said.
Another student pointed out that students at other schools have signed waivers to allow celebrities with cameras to visit their school.
"Lady Gaga came to Frank Sinatra [School of the Arts] and they all had to sign it, you know, all the students approved," she said.
Fans upset that she wouldn't be allowed to visit the school took to Twitter to voice their displeasure.
I'm still in disbelief that the principal declined her visitation to motivate. Does she not know how much Nicki impacts this generation?

Other students suspect the real reason she was declined is Minaj's lyrics and music videos, which tend to focus on her anatomy than her art, Jones reported.
