Jets To Pay Homage To The Past With New Uniforms For Nov. 12 TNF Game

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Kelly Green.

That's what the Jets will wear on Nov. 12 against the Bills at MetLife Stadium as part of the NFL's Color Rush Initiative. Gang Green is one of eight teams that will don new uniforms on Thursday Night Football during the season's second half, with all 32 taking part in 2016.

Why should the new color scheme matter to you? Well, the Jets wore Kelly Green from 1963, following the brief time they were known as the New York Titans, up until the current uniform design's debut in 1997.

The NFL revealed snippets of the new uniform during halftime of Thursday's game between the Dolphins and Patriots, and the buzz on social media was instant and telling. It seems Jets fans love the idea, because it harkens back to a significant portion of the team's history.

The full uniform, including tweaks to the helmet, is expected to be unveiled during next Thursday night's game between the Bengals and Browns.

The following is a list of dates for the games of the eight teams participating in the initiative:

Nov. 12 (Week 10) — Bills (Red) at Jets (Kelly Green) (game broadcast on NFL Network)

Nov. 19 (Week 11) — Titans (Titans Blue) at Jaguars (Bold Gold) (NFL Network)

Nov. 26 (Week 12) — Panthers (Panthers Blue) at Cowboys (White) (CBS)

Dec. 17 (Week 15) — Buccaneers (Red) at Rams (Yellow Gold) (NFL Network)

So a visit from old friend Rex Ryan and new uniforms -- Jets fans are in for a real treat very soon.
