4 People Shot, 1 Killed, In Newark

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Four people were shot, and one was killed, in Newark Thursday evening.

The Essex County Prosecutor's office Major Crimes Task Force said it was dispatched to the 1100 block of South Orange Avenue Thursday evening.

The site of the shooting was near at least two churches.

One person was killed, prosecutors said. Three others were injured, prosecutors said.

The conditions of the other victims were not immediately learned. There was no word on any suspects or a possible motive Thursday night.

Authorities said it was very early in the investigation late Thursday.
