2 Hurt When Newark Light Rail Train Strikes Car
NEWARK (CBSNewYork) -- Two people suffered minor injuries Wednesday when a Newark Light Rail train struck a vehicle.
NJ TRANSIT said it happened at Franklin Avenue in Belleville.
There were 17 people on the train at the time. The driver of the car and the train operator were hurt, but their injuries are not life-threatening, CBS2's Jim Smith reported.
Newark Light Rail service was operating on one track between Grove Street and Branch Brook Park for a time Wednesday morning, but normal service has since been restored.
