Newark Man Dies Of Wounds Suffered In Early Morning Shooting

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- Essex County prosecutors say a Newark man found wounded on a city street has died from his injuries.

Police responding to reports of shots fired on Whittier Place found 35-year-old Marquise Ragland around 1 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later.

A possible motive for the shooting remains under investigation. Further details on the incident, including what type of weapon was used, have not been disclosed.

No arrests have been made.

The shooting is being investigated by city police and the county's Major Crimes Task Force.
