At Least 4 People Wounded In Newark Shooting

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- At least four people were wounded Tuesday night in a shooting in Newark.

Police told CBS2 the victims were wounded in the shooting at Irvine Turner Boulevard and West Kinney Street at 9:12 p.m.

Police told 1010 WINS four victims arrived at University Hospital in Newark with gunshot wounds. They all got to the hospital in private vehicles, one of which was also struck by gunfire, police told 1010 WINS.

The victims' conditions were unknown late Tuesday.

Late Tuesday, police were working to identify the shooters. There was no immediate word on the motive.

Police said no further details would be released Tuesday night.

Sources told CBS2 the shooting came on the first night of limits on police overtime. Sources said the City of Newark has issued a no-overtime order for officers between Tuesday and Oct. 31 -- with the only exception being for shootings.
