"When we started out way back in 1990, what we wanted was new technology, and we've got it," President of 1 in 9, the Long Island Breast Cancer Action Coalition, Geri Barish said.

The traveling 3D technology brings access to many and is among the most effective methods of identifying cancer early on, Barish said.

"This new technology will definitely save lives," she added. "It's an incredible thing to be able to get into a van, take a mammography, but to have this new tech where you know if there's something."

Barish says the mobile high-tech clinic will soon be coming to more neighborhoods.
