New York Knicks, Paws Of War Surprise Army Veteran With Service Dog
The month of November is widely viewed as "Veterans Month" with almost every professional sports league showing their appreciation to the men and women who have served our country. Ahead of Veterans Day on Nov. 11, the New York Knicks decided to surprise a retired Army veteran with a new service dog.
During a break between quarters Wednesday night, the Knicks recognized United States Army retired Sgt. 1st Class Luciano Yulfo, who served in the military for 36 years. Yulfo was injured on duty in Afghanistan in 2014 and retired this past April.
Thanks to the Hoops for Troops program and Paws of War, Yulfo was given a very good canine named Murphy. The retired Army veteran was on the service dog waitlist for 18 months.
