AP: Jets Set To Bolster Special Teams By Signing Ex-Raider Ross

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — A person familiar with the deal says the New York Jets will sign former Oakland Raiders wide receiver-kick returner Jeremy Ross, pending a physical.

The person spoke Wednesday night to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team did not announce the agreement, which was first reported by ESPN.

Ross was not tendered by Oakland this offseason as a restricted free agent. He has 39 career receptions for 469 yards and two touchdowns, and has also returned a kickoff and a punt for scores.

Ross was signed by New England as an undrafted free agent out of California in 2011. He has also spent time with Indianapolis, Green Bay, Detroit and Baltimore. Ross spent a month on the Ravens' active roster last year before being waived, and signed with Oakland a few days later.
