Person Shot By New Jersey State Police In Union

UNION, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A New Jersey State Police trooper shot a suspect Tuesday evening in Union.

Shortly before 6 p.m., the trooper fired at a suspect at 1714 Walker Ave. in Union, police said Tuesday night.

NJ.com reported that state police had been pursuing a carjacked car, and the pursuit ended with the shooting incident in Union near the boundary with Irvington.

The complete details of what led up to the incident were not clear.

As protocol dictates, the New Jersey Attorney General's office shooting response team will investigate, state police told CBS2.

The suspect was taken to University Hospital in Newark in unknown condition, state police said.
