Roads In Union Township, Toms River, Paramus Named Most Dangerous In New Jersey

PARAMUS, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A new list has been published of the top 10 most dangerous roadways in New Jersey.

As 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck reported, with 231 crashes alone in a 1-mile stretch between Powers Drive and Linwood Avenue, Route 17 in Paramus took the number three spot on the list.

Bob, of Wayne, said hold on to your steering wheel.

"And they get an ad in the paper and they want to find the place they've never been before, and they're going too slow to get into it, and then people are just coming out of every mall along the way," he said.

Bob said the number of accidents in the area doesn't surprise him.

Rounding out the top three were Route 37 between Thomas Street and Barnegat Bay in Toms River, and Route 22 between Jefferson Avenue and Madison Avenue in Union Township, which took the top slot with 246 crashes.

The list was published by NJ Advance Media based on analysis of state Department of Transportation 2014 crash statistics.
