New Jersey Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Young Girl

NEW JERSEY (CBSNewYork) -- The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office announced charges Saturday against a New Jersey man who they say sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl several years ago.

Kevin Van Mater, of Leonia, N.J., is charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.

According to authorities, Van Mater engaged in inappropriate sexual activity with a 10-year-old girl, who is now 15 years old.

A judge set bail at $500,000, without a ten percent option. Conditions of bail include no contact with the victim or her family and the surrender of Van Mater's passport.

Van Mater is due back in Leonia Municipal Court on Jan. 28.
