NWS: Hazardous Weather Coming For New Jersey This Week

NEW JERSEY (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A hazardous weather outlook has been issued in New Jersey for the coming work week.

The National Weather Service said the outlook affects central, northern and southern parts of the state. No severe weather is expected Sunday, but residents could see heavy rain later in the week.

Heavy rain on Wednesday in particular could lead to flooding in poor drainage areas.

There is also a chance of tidal flooding during high tide on Wednesday because of northeasterly and easterly winds.

Earlier this month, New Jersey shores were pummeled beaches along Tom's River. Montoloking lost an estimated $2 million worth of sand that was protecting a steel barricade erected after Hurricane Sandy, while Meanwhile, Ortley Beach to the south lost 60 percent of its dunes.
